Homebodii Bride of the Month: Salina Williams

Salina, a Tampa, FL native, loves the color pink, Taylor Swift, and spending time with her golden retriever, Honey. She follows a strict daily routine that starts with a Barry’s class and an oat milk latte, and she enjoys cooking and sharing red wine with her husband on weekends. For their wedding, Salina and her husband took a relaxed approach with a 23-month engagement, planning one major task each month to avoid stress. They cherished their dance lessons, which not only prepared them for their first dance but also served as enjoyable date nights. The day flew by quickly, but they treasured the time spent with loved ones. Looking back, Salina feels proud of creating a day that truly reflected their personalities, with personal touches like their dog walking down the aisle and a Taylor Swift playlist. She advises new brides to focus on having fun and cherishing perfect moments, despite any small mishaps. Salina fondly remembers getting ready in her elegant Gaylene robe, which she wore again on her honeymoon in Bali, making it a lasting memory of her special day.

A little bit about me…

Hi! I’m Salina, I live in Tampa, FL where I was born & raised. I love the color pink, Taylor Swift, and doing everything with my golden retriever, Honey. You can find me at a Barry’s class every day at 6am, immediately followed by an oat milk latte. On the weekends, I like to cook at home and drink red wine with my husband <3 For better or worse, my life is one big routine.

Our approach to planning…

We took our time. We had a long engagement of about 23 months. We started planning right after we got engaged and tried to knock out one big item a month. This helped us stay relaxed and be thorough with every decision. With time on our side, we focused on wedding planning only when we were feeling inspired and excited! I promised myself never to make decisions out of pressure or stress. I felt so fortunate not to be in a rush and to try and keep the good vibes from start to finish.

Looking back on the day we are so glad that we…

Took dance lessons! We both have two left feet, so we were anxious about our first dance in front of all of our friends and family. Taking dance lessons really helped calm our nerves on the day of. We felt so prepared and excited to share our dance with everyone. An added plus was that it was a fun date night activity leading up to the wedding. It gave us dedicated time to connect in such a chaotic period. We would pour a glass of wine, turn on our song, and practice relentlessly. So many laughs, dips, and falls that we will cherish forever. Special shout out to our dance instructor Sarah, her patience and support meant the world to us.

The most unexpected part of the day was…

How fast it goes by. Everyone warns you but it really goes by quicker than a blink of an eye. It felt like the longest and the shortest day of my life. We had a destination wedding on a Friday night, so fortunately we had so much time with our friends and family before and after the wedding day that I feel so grateful for.

When I look back on the day now I feel…

Proud. Putting endless hard work into a day that is so meaningful and then seeing it all come to life is a feeling I’ll remember forever. I felt so proud for creating a day that was a true reflection of who we are. Every special touch was important & unique to us, whether it was our golden retriever walking down the aisle, our favourite wine bottle as the guest book, or a carefully crafted Taylor Swift playlist in the background. We made sure every detail was a piece of us and put our whole heart into every decision, and that makes me feel so happy and proud!

A word of advice to new brides would be...

Have fun! So much about the wedding day can be stressful if you let it be. I tried to forget about the cameras and nerves and just act like I’m having a party with my favorite people. At the end of the day, that is all it is. Afterwards, you can dwell on the things that went wrong or reminisce on all the things that went absolutely perfect. I choose those moments to think about now when I look back and can’t stop smiling.

My Homebodii moment was special because I wore…

The Gaylene robe while getting ready. I knew the moment I saw this robe that it was meant to be. It was so light and elegant, I felt so beautiful floating around in it all morning. It paired perfectly with a silk slip and a glass of champagne. I wanted something I could rewear over and over and always remind me of my wedding day. So OF COURSE I took it with me on our honeymoon to Bali. This robe was a show stopper from popping champagne on my wedding day in Savannah, GA all the way to sipping coffee on the balcony on my honeymoon overlooking the beaches in Bali.
