Homebodii Bride of the Month: Hannah Ramsay

A little bit about me…

My name is Hannah Ramsay and I’m 26 years old. I met my husband in high school, but after we graduated we lost contact. 7 years later we reconnected at the local rodeo and soon began dating. After a year we were engaged and we began our wedding planning instantly as we had planned to have a short engagement. After we secured our wedding date, we were left with a short 6 months to plan our wedding, so it was essential we booked in all the vendors we required quickly.

Our approach to planning the wedding was…

To create a day that encompassed who we were as individuals and who we are as a couple; which was reflected through our chosen ceremony location, reception location, colour pallet and decor. As a young Christian couple, who love the country and all things vintage, we feel like this was achieved as we were married in a small country chapel and celebrated later on at a elegant barn reception, decorated tastefully with gold candelabras and bright florals.

Looking back we’re so glad that we…

Didn’t have a lengthy engagement and that we committed ourselves to the planning process. We are pleased that we invested into the things that were important to us such as having a live band and ensuring we could invite our large community of family and friends to celebrate with us.

The most unexpected part of the day was…

The first look with my dad, who became so emotional upon seeing me in my dress. This was such a special moment that I will cherish. While planning I had such a vivid vision for our day and I really had to “trust the process” particularly having mismatch bridesmaid dresses. I did not get to see them all together so I had hoped they would complement each other, but once my bridesmaids were all dressed and standing together, the floral, tulle dresses exceeded my expectations, and not only complemented each other but it was like they were designed to be alongside one another.

When I look back now, I feel…

So grateful that our wedding day was so perfect and that we shared it with our circle of loved ones. I also feel a sense of sadness, because we will never get to live that day again (it truly is the best day of your life).

My advice to new brides…

Is instead of doing what is trending, stay true to who you and your partner are. Take in every moment, because the day goes by so quickly. Enjoy the time spent with all your loved ones, as this may be the only time in your whole life that you have them all in the same room.

My Homebodii moment was special because…

I purchased the Sian Slip in white for myself and in blush for my bridesmaids. It took me some time to find a floor length slip and when I spotted these on the Homebodii website, I instantly knew they were perfect because they resembled the night dress Julia Roberts wore in Pretty Woman, which was where I was drawing my inspiration from. When my sister in law got married she gifted us with a beautiful pyjama set and I really cherish those pyjamas; so it was important to me to do that for my girls too. We loved our Homebodii slips as they were truly elegant and such beautiful quality.
